Prosthetics on Implants
Modern technologies make it possible to recreate what has been lost. Prosthetics on implants means beautiful teeth that feel like your own and look as natural as possible. Today, many dental clinics in Ukraine and most clinics in Kyiv offer full prosthetics on implants. However, before agreeing to treatment, the patient should be aware of the features and possibilities of the technology. At “Dr. Osadchiy’s Dental Clinic” we pay special attention to informing our patients and guarantee that the result will meet expectations.

An implant is an artificial tooth root on which a specific structure can be installed. These can be:
- a single crown;
- a bar construction;
- a bridge prosthesis;
- a conditionally removable prosthesis.
Patients often prefer conservative methods of prosthetics: bridge constructions on their own teeth or dentures. However, this is not always possible.
A removable prosthesis option may not be available if the patient’s jaw has diminished. In this case, the prosthesis simply has nothing to hold on to.
A bridge construction cannot be placed on the patient’s own teeth if they are missing, and then the only alternative remains prosthetics on implants in case of complete tooth loss.
At “Dr. Osadchiy’s Dental Clinic” we understand that a person needs not just teeth for chewing food – they need to smile, laugh, kiss, and here the aesthetic aspect plays an equally important role. Therefore, prosthetics on implants using our technology will provide teeth that are as close as possible to the lost natural ones both in sensation and in appearance.
Not all dentists in Kyiv offer prosthetics on implants. Patients often encounter recommendations to install a bridge. However, it is important to understand that when placing a bridge on the patient’s own teeth, additional load occurs, which will inevitably lead to the destruction of the patient’s teeth and the need to replace the construction. The cost of prosthetics on implants is not critically higher, yet it allows preserving the correct load on the patient’s own teeth and keeping them for a longer period.
Prosthetics on implants can be performed with different numbers of implants:
- one implant – one crown;
- a bridge construction (minimum quantity: two implants – three crowns);
- removable and non-removable prostheses.
| Number of Implants | Description | Advantages/Disadvantages |
| 2 | Prosthetics on two implants involves placing two implants on the lower jaw, which will serve as a support for a removable prosthesis. This prosthesis will be removable: it needs to be removed and rinsed | Advantages: This prosthesis holds better than a similar construction that relies only on the patient’s jaw. Disadvantages: The need to constantly remove and rinse the prosthesis. The need to frequently send the prosthesis for correction due to changes in the oral mucosa contour. A greater number of required dental visits |
| 4 | Prosthetics on four implants per jaw allows creating a non-removable prosthesis construction | Advantages: The ability to care for the prosthesis like your own teeth. No need to remove the prosthesis. Disadvantages: The ability to recreate only 12 teeth per jaw |
| 6 | Prosthetics on six implants per jaw allows placing 1 bridge or 3 separate bridges | Advantages: The ability to install 14 teeth per jaw. Maximum quality for moderate cost |
| 8–10 | Prosthetics on eight implants involves installing 8 implants on each jaw, on which bridge constructions and individual crowns are mounted | Advantages: The ability to achieve maximum aesthetics. The ability to make some teeth individual |
Upper jaw prosthetics on implants is no different from lower jaw prosthetics on implants. But it is important for the patient to decide on their number.
In some cases, patients prefer two implants based on cost. However, the cost of prosthetics on implants using four implants will be only 20–30% higher, with a significantly better result. In this case, it is possible to avoid additional expenses that will arise in the future with prosthetics on two implants. The golden mean is using six implants – this is full prosthetics on implants with recreation of 28 teeth.
Dental prosthetics on implants can be performed using the same materials as prosthetics on natural teeth. Simply put: the implant serves as the tooth root, on which a crown of virtually any material can be placed:
- plastic;
- metal-plastic;
- metal;
- pressed ceramics;
- metal-ceramics;
- zirconium dioxide;
- acrylic construction with a metal frame;
- acrylic construction without metal;
- ceramic composite;
- etc.
The choice of material depends on the patient’s capabilities and wishes, as well as the doctor’s recommendations. At “Dr. Osadchiy’s Dental Clinic” we prefer only the best materials, and based on many years of experience, we recommend zirconium dioxide or pressed ceramics.
The cost of prosthetics on implants using zirconium dioxide or pressed ceramics will be the same.
It is also important to note that prosthetics can be performed not only using various crowns, but with insufficient bone supply (the patient’s jaw has diminished), prosthetics on mini-implants is also possible.
| Crown Material | Indications for Use |
| Zirconium dioxide with ceramic coating | Crowns made of pressed ceramics cannot be used for bridge constructions. In such cases, zirconium dioxide must be used |
| Pressed ceramics | The optimal choice for the frontal group of teeth, as the material allows creating a semi-transparent edge and achieving high aesthetics indistinguishable from natural teeth |

Quality of work
Thanks to a thorough approach in diagnostics and treatment planning for each clinical case, we achieve a minimal number of complications.
Analysis of the clinical picture and treatment plan preparation.
If a person has several of their own teeth, the doctor, depending on their condition, may decide whether to keep or extract them. To achieve a long-term result during prosthetics, it is better to extract questionable (mobile, with granulomas, cysts, poorly treated, impossible to re-treat) remaining natural teeth. In some cases, two front canines can be preserved. These teeth are evolutionarily the strongest.
Installation of implants on the upper and/or lower jaw. Surgical stage and, if necessary, installation of temporary prosthetics.
At “Dr. Osadchiy’s Dental Clinic” we insist on two-stage implantation. This means implants are placed, sutured for some time to ensure osseointegration. If necessary, temporary prosthetics are installed during the healing period in the form of temporary crowns, bridges, or dentures.
Installation of the gum former on implants.
In order for prosthetics on implants to be indistinguishable in appearance and sensation from natural teeth, it is necessary to create the correct gum contour around the future construction. For this purpose, special healing caps are installed; the average time for complete healing is seven days.
Taking impressions.
Manufacturing dental prostheses involves transferring the clinical situation in the patient’s mouth to a dental laboratory, for which it is necessary to create models from impressions.
Manufacturing the prosthesis.
This takes place in the laboratory without the patient’s participation; sometimes a preliminary fitting is performed.
Installing the prosthesis.
After the crowns are manufactured, the construction is fixed on the implants. We strongly recommend using conditionally temporary cement, which, if necessary, allows removing the construction from the implants without cutting it in the patient’s mouth.
Prosthetics on implants for both jaws at “Dr. Osadchiy’s Dental Clinic” also includes temporary prosthetics. When the implants are installed and sutured, the patient uses a temporary removable prosthesis. It prevents the chewing muscles from atrophying and serves an aesthetic function. Subsequently, when the permanent prosthesis is installed, rehabilitation and adaptation take up to two weeks.
The price of prosthetics on implants includes the cost of:
- installation of the implants themselves;
- doctor’s services for jaw prosthetics on implants;
- manufacturing the prosthesis (bridge) in the laboratory;
- necessary components (gum former, abutment).
It is important for patients to understand that:
- The cost of dental prosthetics on four implants will not be twice as high as the cost of prosthetics on two implants; the difference in cost will be 20–30%. This percentage covers the expenses for additional implants. The same situation applies to the price difference between prosthetics on four and eight implants.
- The cost of the bridge or prosthesis does not depend on the number of implants; the laboratory includes the cost of each crown in the price.
Thus, the price of full dental prosthetics on implants consists of two parts: the first is fixed (the cost of work), the second is variable (depends on the number of implants and crowns).
Prosthetics on implants creates a feeling of having your own teeth. As a rule, the adaptation process takes 1–2 weeks. Minor cheek biting may occur due to getting used to the new bite; minor grinding of cusps may also be needed.
Removable dentures require more thorough care; in addition, an inevitable process of changes in the mucosa condition occurs, and the jaw deforms. These and other reasons lead to the fact that a patient with a removable denture has to visit the dentist more often and replace the prosthesis. With prosthetics on implants, caring for the prosthesis is the same as caring for your own teeth.
There is a common belief that a person comes to implantation because they had a falling out with their toothbrush. This is not always the case. Periodontitis and periodontal disease can develop even with good hygiene. For example, there are enzymatic hormonal changes at different ages, osteoporosis in women during menopause. In other words, there are quite many reasons for tooth loss.
