But if we set marketing and advertising aside, it is important to understand that Nobel Biocare specializes in producing classic screw-type implants. Unlike Straumann, however, they emphasize prosthetic restoration on implants. In particular, it was Nobel Biocare that developed the All-on-4 concept: restoration of a toothless jaw on four supports in the form of implants.

In addition, Nobel Biocare promotes the idea of implantation with immediate loading. But at Dr. Osadchiy’s Clinic, we do not recommend immediately loading implants for our patients, because our first priority is not a quick result, but high-quality osseointegration and a good delayed result over the long term.

As with Straumann, the Nobel Biocare range contains only classic screw-type implants. The threaded design provides reliable fixation of the implant in bone tissue and high primary stability.

Short Nobel Biocare implants

The manufacturer has short implants that can be used when bone availability is insufficient. But these are screw-type implants that work according to the same principle as medium-length implants. This means that for their placement it is often, or almost always, necessary to use bone-grafting material, which carries additional risks and inconvenience in the form of additional surgical procedures. Nobel Biocare does not have equivalents of I-System short Plateau-system implants.

Standard Nobel Biocare implants

The main part of the Nobel Biocare range consists of standard implants for classic implantation when there is sufficient bone volume.

Narrow Nobel Biocare implants

These implants allow implantation to be performed more delicately and with minimal tissue trauma. They are especially often used in the smile zone, where not only implant integration is important, but also preservation of the natural soft tissue contour and the esthetics of the future crown.

In addition, a reduced implant diameter can in some cases help avoid additional bone-grafting surgeries when bone width is insufficient. However, the decision about whether such implantation is possible is always made individually, based on the patient’s clinical situation.

Nobel Biocare develops the On1 concept, in which the prosthetic platform is moved from bone level to soft tissue level. The On1 Base is placed during surgery and is not removed during the prosthetic stages. This reduces repeated trauma to the soft tissue and promotes more stable healing of soft tissues around the implant.

Most Nobel Biocare implants are made of medical-grade titanium. The manufacturer emphasizes high precision of implant processing, structural stability and predictable osseointegration.

One of the key features of Nobel Biocare is the TiUnite surface. It is a special porous implant surface that helps improve contact between the implant and bone tissue.

The surface is formed by anodizing titanium, creating a microporous structure with an increased contact area with bone.

This surface helps to:

The TiUnite surface is especially important for:

In addition to the TiUnite surface, Nobel Biocare also uses more modern developments: Xeal and TiUltra. The Xeal surface is used for abutments and helps improve contact with soft tissue. TiUltra has different properties in different areas of the implant: in the neck area it is oriented toward working with soft tissues, while in the apical part it is aimed at more effective integration with bone tissue.

Every implant brand has its own specialization. For Nobel Biocare, the main feature of the system is the combination of classic screw-type implantation, digital technologies and solutions for complex prosthetic restoration.

Another feature of the system is ASC technology, or Angulated Screw Channel, which allows the screw channel to be positioned at an angle of up to 25°. This helps avoid the screw exit on the front surface of the tooth and significantly improves prosthetic esthetics, especially in the smile zone. In addition, this technology makes it easier to work with posterior teeth in patients with limited mouth opening.
