One-Stage Dental Implantation
Today, many clinics in Kyiv offer one-stage dental implantation, the main advantage of which for the patient is obtaining an immediate result. We recommend that patients evaluate not only the advantages but also the possible risks, and for this purpose we explain the technology in detail.
The technologies of one-stage and two-stage implantation differ significantly. There is also a difference in the implants used. The healing of the bone after implantation and its speed are influenced not so much by the implant material (they are all of fairly high quality), but by the implantation technology and the doctor’s experience.

One-stage dental implantation most often uses the second type of implants, that is, single-piece ones. Such one-stage dental implants can only be used when the doctor places the implant in one visit and provides immediate loading by installing a crown (or bridge) either immediately after implantation or within a few days after the procedure. Even if the crown is not placed on the implant, immediate loading is unavoidable.
The first type of implants (consisting of several parts) are traditionally used in two-stage implantation, however, one-stage implantation, or more precisely, implantation with immediate loading, is also possible in this case.
One-stage dental implantation means that the doctor implants a root with an artificial tooth stump (or installs an abutment) into the patient’s bone and places a crown. It does not matter whether it is a single-piece one-stage implant or an implant consisting of several parts. The important characteristic of the technology is time: the crown can be placed on the implant immediately or within a short period. Accordingly, the main advantage of the one-stage implantation method is the rapid rehabilitation of the patient.
To evaluate the disadvantages of one-stage implantation, it is necessary to understand that the implant is placed into a living structure. This is not wood or metal — it is a living bone structure that the doctor intentionally traumatizes in a controlled manner. Bone healing takes at least three weeks (as with a standard fracture), and bone rehabilitation requires up to one and a half years.
Thus, the doctor needs 21 days to determine whether the implant has integrated or not. During two-stage implantation, the root is placed separately, sutured, and no chewing load is applied to it. After the required period, the doctor checks whether the implant root has taken in the bone, and if so, installs the abutment and crown.
But if one-stage implants are used, the load occurs almost immediately, the implant may become mobile in the bone, and it may also fail to integrate at all and fall out after a short time. One-stage implantation with immediate loading carries all these risks and does not allow the doctor to control the process.
At our clinic, we warn that one-stage dental implantation has an effectiveness rate of 63% (global statistics). In simple terms: in 37 out of 100 people, one-stage implants do not become surrounded by sufficient bone tissue and are rejected by the body.
| Criterion | One-Stage Immediate Dental Implantation | Two-Stage Implantation |
| Procedure Cost | Generally more cost-effective due to fewer visits. | Less cost-effective due to the number of required dental visits. |
| Results Obtained | Patients can leave with a new set of teeth on the day of surgery. | Patients will not leave the clinic with a new set of teeth on the day of the first surgery. |
| Treatment Duration | Surgery and prosthetics in one day. However, the patient will still need to come in advance for a consultation and treatment planning. As well as follow-up examinations after surgery. However, the entire process from initial consultation to a new smile usually takes only 2 weeks. | The entire process can take 4-6 months before patients can enjoy their new teeth. |
| When Applied | This type of treatment can only be applied in certain clinical situations. | A traditional reliable method of dental implant placement. Applied in most clinical situations. |
| Protocol Success Rate | The risk of implant rejection in some cases may be higher compared to two-stage implantation. | 98% success rate |
Lifetime implantation warranty
Thanks to their configuration and unique i-mimetic surface, i-system dental implants make it possible to avoid any surgery and bone grafting.
Manufacturer warranty on the implant
Swiss Straumann dental implants with a long history, a wide range of materials and solutions. Suitable for any clinical situation.
Patients often think that one-stage implantation of a front tooth is the only way to maintain aesthetic appeal. However, the risks of rejection still remain very high.
Therefore, when it comes to the aesthetic zone, we offer patients a temporary butterfly prosthesis, a plastic tooth that is temporarily attached to their own teeth. An option with a temporary crown that is taken out of occlusion is also possible. This way, we ensure good aesthetic results and do not interfere with the process of implant integration into the bone.

When it comes to the cost of implantation, it is important to think ahead and discuss the risks. Short-term and hasty treatment, one-stage dental implantation with a high probability can lead to implant loss within a period of 1 month to 2 years. In Kyiv clinics, one-stage dental implantation is done with a 1-year warranty. In most clinics in Ukraine, re-installation of the implant is paid for by the patient. Thus, the cost of one-stage implantation can increase several times over, not counting the patient’s time and effort.
At Osadchiy Dental Clinic, we provide a lifetime warranty on the implants we recommend. The long-term results of our implantation are 30-40 years of implant use. With such guarantees, we have a mandatory requirement for patients: analyze information, consider risks, and make informed decisions that allow you to preserve your health, youth, and money.
If the implant for one reason or another did not integrate in the bone, it is removed and a new one is placed. There is nothing critical about this. As for the reasons for implant rejection, they can lie in the area of the patient’s health and clinical picture, as well as depend on the competence of the doctor.
During implantation, a hole is made in the bone into which an artificial tooth root, i.e., an implant, is inserted. Over time, bone tissue forms around the implant, which ensures tight adhesion and prevents the implant from being mobile. It is very important to clean the socket of epithelial cells. If this is not done or not done thoroughly enough, epithelial tissue may form instead of bone tissue — the implant will become mobile, will not be able to perform chewing function, and may be rejected by the body.
Yes, and it is necessary. The only significant difference between young and older patients is the amount of bone supply. The size of the jawbone in an elderly person can significantly decrease. In this case, it will be impossible to work with standard implants. Therefore, we use implants not 8 mm but 4 mm long, of a special configuration. At the same time, older patients have an advantage — the immune response, the body of elderly patients less frequently rejects implants.

Extensive experience
Стаж работы челюстно-лицевой хирурга 38 лет, из них 8 лет — работа дежурным врачом отделения острой травмы.

Number of surgeries
Over 2,000 successful surgeries in the field of maxillofacial surgery.

Quality of work
Thanks to a thorough approach in diagnostics and treatment planning for each clinical case, we achieve a minimal number of complications.
Some implants last 2-6 years, good ones with proper care will last a lifetime.
The implant integrates in the bone within 1.5 to 6 months, depending on the complexity of the patient’s clinical situation.
Implant systems differ in the composition of the material from which the implant is made (various types of titanium, zirconium oxide, alloy mixtures), configuration and shape of the implant (root-shaped, “plateau” system, plate-type), implant surface (SLA, calcium phosphate, and others), as well as the type of abutment-to-implant connection (hexagon, cone, combined, etc.). In the case of two-stage implantation, it is very important to properly connect the abutment with the implant, which is crucial for long-term and stable results. Implants can be one-stage (immediate loading with crown placement) and two-stage, when loading on the installed implant occurs after osseointegration.
We recommend our patients systems that have been on the market for more than 10 years and are produced in countries with strict legislation on the production of medical devices (Switzerland, USA, Germany, Sweden). The selection of an implant for a patient is based on the clinical situation and the patient’s wishes.
Absence of a tooth (extraction due to caries, granulomas, inflammation, etc.). Natural absence of teeth (no tooth buds). Tooth conditions that cannot be treated (chronic periodontitis, root destruction, etc.).
Mental disorders (schizophrenia and its various forms). Blood diseases (leukemia, hepatitis, osteoporosis, and others).
