Installation of 5 implants. Clinical case
Pus discharge, tooth mobility, bad breath, pain
Chronic generalized periodontitis in the acute phase, partial adentia
Extraction of periodontitis-affected teeth, replacement of destroyed bone, placement of 5 i-system implants, prosthetics
2.5 months
A patient came to our clinic requesting a treatment plan, as treatment by a periodontist at another clinic had not produced the desired results. The patient complained of bad breath, bleeding gums, tooth mobility, and constant pain.
Our proposed treatment was as follows: we eliminate the foci of inflammation (remove destroyed tissues and teeth that cannot be treated), preserve and treat teeth that are conditionally healthy, and replace areas with compromised bone anatomy with bone grafting material to create an aesthetic contour of the alveolar ridge. In other words, we level the bone for aesthetic appearance. We perform implantation in areas of missing teeth followed by rational prosthetics.
Consultation with a dental surgeon for diagnosis and treatment planning.
After performing an OPG (dental X-ray) and CT scan, we proposed comprehensive treatment consisting of extraction of 5 infected teeth and destroyed tissues, bone grafting procedures in defect areas, and placement of 5 implants.
We performed a surgery with bone grafting elements to cover the destroyed bone and place 5 dental implants of the plateau system by i-system (Switzerland). Postoperative monitoring and rehabilitation measures followed.
The rehabilitation period was 2.5 months. The result of the surgery is visible on the follow-up X-ray: we can see the placed implants in the areas of missing teeth, and the zones of bone defect replacement with bone grafting material (demineralized bone tissue).
After 2.5 months, the patient received 7 zirconia crowns.
Additionally, at the patient’s request, another plateau system implant by i-system (Switzerland) was placed, to avoid the need for bridging the patient’s own teeth. A zirconia crown was also placed on this implant.
As a result, the patient received functional and aesthetically attractive teeth on the lower jaw.
